My biggest pet peeves

We all have our pet peeves. If you’re not sure what they are, they’re basically just little things that people do that annoy the crap out of you. Today I thought I’d make a list of the things that annoy me most in life, so here they are:

1. EATING LOUDLY

Yes that is in block capitals for a reason. As my number one pet peeve, I don’t think there is anything more annoying than when people eat loudly, smacking their lips and making horrible noises. Okay, some people may not be able to help it sometimes like if they have a cold or some kind of problem which means they can’t avoid it, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t irritate the hell out of me. I have the misfortune of living with a few people who do this on a daily basis (you know who you are).

2. Not cleaning up your mess

This one baffles me. Why do people insist on leaving their mess lying around in an area that isn’t just theirs? My housemates know all too well that it riles me up when people leave their pots, pans, glasses, bowls, tissues, plates, empty bottles and all their other rubbish just lying around in the kitchen or living room or wherever.

3. Talking with your mouth full

Similar to number 1, I hate when people talk when they’re still chewing a mouthful of food. Just finish your food, then speak afterwards.

4. Slow drivers

So the limit says 40mph, but you’re just going to do 25mph? SPEED UP. People have places to be, even if it is just getting home. Going slow can be just as dangerous as someone speeding, so at least get close to the speed limit.

5. Slow walkers

Another group of people who just love to go slow and annoy others. Okay, there is no speed limit that people should be adhering to when they’re walking, but it’s still annoying as hell.

6. Groups taking up the entire pavement

Getting stuck behind some slow walkers is bad enough, but when there is a group of them AND they’re taking up the entire pavement, well that’s just too far. Move over please.

7. People not watching a film, but then demanding an explanation for what’s going on

JUST WATCH THE FILM. Put down your phone and watch the film if you really want to know what’s going on. The other thing I don’t get is when someone walks into a film 1 hour in, or TV show 5 episodes in and asks you to explain what’s going on. Erm, no thanks, watch it yourself.

8. Loud noises while you’re watching TV

So you’re watching a film and it starts getting intense, then just to ruin it someone turns on the kettle, starts talking loudly or starts playing music. Shh!

9. Leaving nail clippings around the living room

Seriously? You’re just going to leave your toenails on the floor? Clean it up!

10. People moving my things without telling me

I usually place things in places where I can remember where they are, so when someone comes along and moves them I just want to scream. It’s not yours so stop moving it unless you tell me where you’ve moved it to.

11. People changing temperature in the car without asking

Sometimes I’ll be driving along thinking “why is it so hot in here?”, only to find that someone has put the heaters on the highest temperature without asking. Please just ask next time.

12. Complaining

Sometimes it’s justified. Just don’t go on and on and on and on and on and on about it.

13. Double standards

So other people can’t do something but you can? Sorry, but that’s not how it works.

We’d love to hear some of your pet peeves, so let us know what gets on your nerves the most. We might include some of yours in a future post.
